F/L D.R.Turley-George joined 54 Squadron on 15th July, 1940.
He was shot down by a Bf 109 at 15:00hrs on 25th July, 1940. He crash landed his Spitfire I (P9387) near Dover.
On the 12th August, 1940, Turley-George was forced to crash-land his Spitfire at Denton after being damaged in combat. He was admitted to Caterbury Hospital with shrapnel wounds to the head. He was grounded for over a year as a result of his injuries.
