The Glenn Miller Band
Ray McVay's show band has delighted audiences for many years with Big Band music, achieving the right tonality, phrasing and sheer “feel” of Glenn Miller. In a marvelous deal struck long ago, Ray had access to Glenn's original material; the original scores that Glenn himself arranged and worked from. The result of that deal is that if you attend one of their concerts, you will hear Glenn Miller music played as closely to the original as possible.

Ray's show at the Cliffs Pavilion each year is a sell out every time, so be sure to book early! I've been to the concert four times, and have always been captivated by the music and the unique atmosphere. On one occasion the music had people dancing in the aisles. For the first half of the concert, the band adorn their famous red blazers; for the second half they are in G.I. uniform, in keeping with the themes of the music. The 'Juke Box Saturday Night' is a particular favourite, with the enchanting melodies sung by Jan Messeder, Colin Anthony and the Moonlight Serenaders. Whilst playing 'Tuxedo Junction' the band actually leave the stage and walk up and down the gangways around the seated audience. It is always good to see younger people in the audience too, genuinely enjoying the music only their grandparents would have heard first time around.

Jill's singing key, (which happens to be the same as Dame Vera's)

She did not actually specialise until she was asked to put on a special Show for

The VE DAY Shows were a total success and bookings started flowing in
