Shuckburgh was born in 1918.
He went to The Leys in 1931, at the age of 13, and went into North A House. He was a Prefect, a member of the Dramatic Society and a respected scholar.
On leaving school, Shuckburgh went up to the University of Cambridge.
At the outbreak of war, Shuckburgh joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Sergeant Pilot and flew Spitfires in 603 Squadron.
He was killed in action over France on 13th October, 1941, at the age of 23.
Shuckburgh is buried at Dunkirk Town Cemetery, Nord, grave number 2. 2. 38
