Sgt. Mercer was in the 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regiment.
He was killed on 21st September 1917. He was aged 33.

John was the son of Mr. & Mrs. John Mercer of Westcliff-on-Sea; Husband of Mary Mercer of II Tudor Road, Westcliff-on-Sea.

He is buried in Feuchy British Cemetery
