F/O C. A. Rice was born on 24th February, 1917, in Armidale, Australia.
Clarence enlisted in the RAAF on 24th May, 1941, in New South Wales. He did his training in Canada, and once in the UK, appears to have served with 64 Squadron.

Clarence joined 453 Squadron from 12th January, 1944, until 15th October, 1944.
He was posted to No 8 Operational Training Unit as an instructor before being discharged with the rank of Warrant Officer.
