F/Lt. McGregor was possibly the oldest RCAF pilot to see service.
During the Battle of Britain, he was with 1 (RCAF) Squadron at 38 years old. He scored four victories during the summer of 1940.

Gordon was awarded the DFC on 25th October 1940.

He commanded the squadron from November, and in January 1941 he handed command to Flight Lieutenant Corbett, and was posted to command 2 (RCAF) Squadron.
In April, he moved to command the Candian Wing.

Gordon flew his last operational sortie as a Group Captain on 28th March 1945, destroying a locomotive.

He was awarded the C de G and the Czech Military Cross in 1947.

Gordon McGregor passed away on 8th March 1971.
