F/Lt. Corbett was born in Toronto, Canada, on 24th March 1911.
On 30th December 1935 he joined the RCAF.

On 20th June 1940, Vaughan arrived in the UK with 1 (RCAF) Squadron.
On 31st August, he was shot down in Hurricane P3869 during combat with Bf 109s over Cranbrook. He baled out, with burns, and landed near the level crossing at Wittersham. His aircraft crashed and burned out at Biddenden.

On 1st January 1941, Vaughan was posted as Flight Commander to 2 (RCAF) Squadron at Digby, taking over the post from Flight Lieutenant McGregor (who had moved on become the commander of the Canadian Wing). On 1st March, the squadron was re-numbered as 402 Squadron, and in April he took command of the unit.

On 27th September, he was on a Blenheim escort to raid the power station at Mazingarbe, and he shared in the destruction of a Bf 109.

At the end of his tour, he was awarded the DFC on 13th February 1942.
On 16th July he was repatriated to Canada.

On 20th February 1945, Vaughan, then a Group Captain, was killed in a flying accident.
He is buried in St. James' Cemetery, Toronto.
