P/O Howard
was born in Kent.
John joined the RAFVR about April 1939.
He was called up on 1st September 1939, completed his training and joined 54 Squadron at Catterick on 18th September 1940.
On 24th October 1940 John moved to join 74 (Tiger) Squadron at Biggin Hill.
In company with Sergeant J. Rogowski, Howard damaged a Bf. 109 on 7th April 1941.
John was shot down on Tuesday 6th May 1941 when flying one of eleven aircraft as escort to Blenheim bombers of 101 Squadron out of Manston. He was aged 22.
John Howard is buried at Marquise Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais.
