P/O Campbell was born in Sorrento, British Columbia.
Alan began flying training with the RAF in June 1939 and was at Hornchurch with 54 Squadron in June 1940.
On 7th July, he was slightly wounded after being attacked by Bf 109s Deal, and made a forced-landing at Deal.
On 18th August he claimed a Bf 109 destroyed.

On 6th April, 1941, Alan was promoted to Flying Officer.
In May 1941, he was with the MSFU at Speke. He sailed for Halifax, Nova Scotia on 10th June on the 'Empire Moon', the second ship to sail equipped with a catapult Hurricane.

On 6th April 1942, he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant.
Alan is known to have served with 80, 123, and 234 Squadrons.

He was released from the RAF on 30th October 1945.

Alan joined the RCAF in August 1951, and retired in 1964.

Alan Campbell passed away in September 1974.
