P/O F. Hradil was born on 21st September 1912 in Tesetice, Czechoslovakia.
He came to 310 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron on 12th July 1940. After retraining on Hurricanes, he was moved with other three pilots on 27th August, to 19 Squadron. There he passed retraining on Spitfire and became operational pilot.

Frantisek was killed on 5th November 1940 when his Spitfire IIA P7545 QV- was shot down by Bf 109 from I/JG 26 during a dogfight over Southend-on-Sea. His plane crashed into the River Thames close to Southend Pier.

His body was found on 7th November and was buried on 12th November 1940 at Sutton Cemetery in Sutton Road, Southend-on-Sea.
