At Age Concern (Southend), we aim to provide services which respond to the needs of older people in the borough. From our office and assisted by our team of volunteers, we offer comfort, friendship and practical help to residents who feel isolated or who need regular or occasional support in maintaining the life which they wish to lead and to their families, friends and carers. 3rd Floor, Queensway House, Essex Street, Southend-on-Sea.

We are the Southend & District branch of Cats Protection, Britain's oldest charity solely for the welfare of cats. All our work is carried out by volunteers. Last year the Southend & District branch helped nearly 1,000 needy cats, including finding new homes for more than 430 cats and kittens. Over the same period we succeeded in re-uniting more than 90 cats with their owners through our lost & found register.

The Peaceful Place is a unique charity established in 1996 as a club offering specialised care and support for people under 65 living with dementia and their families in South East Essex. The service is available five days a week in an exclusively age appropriate environment at St. Lukes Place, Dalys Road, Rochford. We have a high ratio of staff to club members which allows us to be able to offer a good level of person centred care. St. Mary's Horse Refuge is a registered charity located in Rochford. It is located about 6 miles from Southend on Sea. The charity's founder, Digby Saunders had been taking in horses and ponies in need of care for over 25 years with little help and no funding. By the early 2000s it was time to take action. It was established as a charity in 2003 and its aim is to keep those unwanted but loveable horses healthy, to provide them with homely conditions and give them a decent life that they can enjoy.
