F/Lt. Campbell-Colquhoun
On 24th August, 1940, Campbell-Colquhoun and his gunner, P/O Gerry Robinson, were engaged in combat in their Defiant with a Me109. Their aircraft was damaged; bullets from the Messerschmitt igniting the Very cartridges in the cockpit, causing the flares to shoot all around. Campbell-Colquhoun slammed the Defiant down as quickly as possible on Manston airfield, and both he and P/O Robinson escaped unhurt.
