W/Cmdr W. F. Allshorn was born on 20th April 1913.
He enlisted on 15th July 1935, and on 1st October 1939 was promoted as Temporary Flight Lieutenant. On 12th October, he went to an Elementary Training Squadron.
On 9th October 1940, William joined No. 5 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) and on 1st July 1941 was promoted to Temporary Squadron Leader.
William joined 453 Squadron as Commanding Officer on 17th August 1941. On 10th October, he was posted to 21 squadron, holding the same rank.
On 19th May 1942, William was posted to HQ (S.A.), and for the rest of 1942, moved to S of A Co-op, AFHQ, No. 2 Australian Corps, until on 10th December he was posted to 4 Squadron. On 15th January 1943, while with 4 Squadron, he became the Commanding Officer, and was promoted on 1st June to Flight Lieutenant, and again on 1st August to Acting Wing Commander.
On 3rd November 1943, William was posted as Commanding Officer to 83 Squadron.
On 7th March 1944, William was posted to RAAF Overseas Headquarters, where on 20th March he spent time at No. 7 Service Flying Training School (SFTS).
William was promoted on 1st July 1944 to the rank of Wing Commander, and was posted on 7th September to No. 5 SFTS.
On 6th May 1946, William's appointment was terminated.
