Health Walks
Our scheme is part of the "Walking For Health" initiative, and is aimed at encouraging anyone, particularly if you don't take much exercise to take regular short walks at a location close to your home. We meet at various locations in the Southend area and walk from 30 - 50 minutes. The walks are suitable for all ages and abilities and especially for those who would like to become more active.

The Southend Art Club
The Southend Art Club was formed with the aim ‘To promote the appreciation and practice of art in the area’. Apart from a short break for World War Two, the club can trace its history back to 1929 when it was established as ‘The Southend Art Circle’, and had 25 members. Today membership exceeds 270 and every year exhibitions of work are held in the town. Several members successfully exhibit at national level and are prominent in Art World circles.
Prittlewell Bowling Club
Formed in 1928, Prittlewell Bowls is a mixed club and welcomes both men and women to what is considered to be some of the best facilities in the Borough. The Club offers relaxed social bowls to the inexperienced or non-competitive members, or competitive leagues and cup competitions for the more experienced and dedicated bowler.
The clubhouse holds social events, and during the winter months holds short mats for indoor bowling as well as table tennis, whist drives and social occasions. Priory Park, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Telephone: 01702 338844
The Southend Ornithological Group
The SOG recording area is mostly bounded by water, the River Crouch to the north (Bridgemarsh Island is included), the North Sea to the east (Wallasea, Potton and Rushley Islands are included) and the Thames estuary to the south. To the west, the boundary follows the creek north from the Thames at Hole Haven, around the western edge of Pitsea and Vange marshes, to the A13 road. It then follows the A13 east to Sadlers Farm roundabout and from there it runs north along the A130 until it meets the River Crouch near Battlesbridge. Any bird recorded within this area, or seen from this area, is considered recordable for the SOG list.
